Well hey! We are Brent and Katie--a couple that has been dating about a year (gasp!). We go to the same university. However, that is not how we met. So, here goes the story...

Once upon a time, Katie was dating a guy she went to church with (let's call him Alan). She was three years younger than Alan--she was a junior in high school and he was a sophomore in college. So, one evening (it was in April of 2002) Katie had gone over to Alan's school to see him for a little while. She was just sitting there, drinking a smoothie in the student center, when who would walk in but Brent. He and Alan had gone to high school together, so Brent came over to say hi. He introduced himself to Katie, and that was about it. Nothing too exciting.

Fast forward to August 2003. Katie and Alan had long since parted ways, and she was about to begin her freshman year of college. At one of the freshmen orientation activities, she all of the sudden saw Brent! They were both really excited to see each other. However, that same night Brent met another freshman girl whom he decided to date. Oh well. Katie had some fun of her own that semester. She actually went out on a few dates with one of Brent's frat brothers. Actually, she and Brent's girlfriend would hang out at the functions with the guys' club. All very interesting. Well, Katie was not having a whole lot of luck with guys, and Brent and his girlfriend broke up around Thanksgiving. (Crazy story--Katie was the first girl that Brent saw after he and his girl called it quits! Is that fate or what?)

Well, Christmas break came and went, and school started once again....you will have to read the rest of the story later! 

Ok, so Brent and Katie got back from Christmas--both single and not necessarily loving it. Katie was definitely not looking, though. She had actually just decided to spend her summer in Honduras and her fall semester in Vienna, Austria, so getting a boyfriend would not really make sense. Brent wasn't really looking for a girl either, just flirting around a lot. (j/k) Katie had a Cheap Date coming up with her business fraternity (shout out to AKPsi!), and she had absolutely NO idea to ask. She could not think of anyone. Her best bud in the frat, Tiara, didn't know whom to ask, either. Katie was trying to think of guys for both of them to take, but it seemed that the well had run dry.

One night at dinner, Katie and Tiara could not find anywhere to sit. It was really the first night at Sodexho when all (and they mean all) the tables were full--except one. It just so happened that Brent and his friends were looking for a table, too. So, Katie asked Brent if he and his friends wanted to sit with Tiara and her at the one free table. As they were all sitting there eating and talking, Katie had a great idea--why didn't Tiara ask Brent to Cheap Date? He is really talkative and they could surely have at least a decent time together. Well, Tiara said that it could maybe work, but she didn't really feel like she knew Brent well enough to ask him. But, Tiara had an even greater idea--why didn't Katie ask him?

Would Katie ask Brent to Cheap Date? Was her future sitting there, eating right in front of her? Find out next time...
